Station Hands – Mantuan Downs, Portland Downs & Coolullah

Mantuan Downs station in QLD is located approximately 100km west of Springsure and in close proximity to our Cungelella station. Presently Mantuan Downs has approximately 11,000 head of cattle.

Portland Downs is located near Isisford, about 100km south east of Longreach and with a small crew, they manage approximately 9,500 head of cattle.

NAPCO has owned Coolullah Station since 1992 and the property is positioned to the southwest of NAPCO owned Boomarra in Queensland’s Gulf Country, along the Leichhardt River on the edge of the rich Mount Isa mineral fields.

The role

Reporting to the applicable Station Manager, we are currently seeking multiple Station Hands to work in permanent full-time positions at our Mantuan Downs, Portland Downs and Coolullah Stations.

Ideally the successful candidates will:

  • Have a minimum one year’s experience on a station
  • Be a confident horse-rider/motorbike rider, with experience mustering on both
  • Be able to shoe horses (highly desirable, though not mandatory)
  • Be able to flex across mustering, fencing and other general station duties as required
  • Have your own transport, due to the remote location of the station

You will be expected to maintain all station equipment as if it was your own, and be committed to complying with Health and Safety policies and procedures.

We may be able to consider a couple for these positions.

Employee benefits

  • Permanent full-time positions
  • A competitive day rate and generous annual leave entitlements
  • You will be provided with air-conditioned accommodation
  • Unfortunately were not able to allow any dogs at the station (pets or working dogs)

Pre-employment requirements

Prior to commencement, all new employees are required to undertake an Australian National Police Check and are also required to be vaccinated against Q Fever (all associated costs covered by NAPCO).
